Why Fitness Trends Keep Failing Women: Breaking Down 20 Years of Industry Nonsense

movement podcast
fitness trends failing women

For the last two decades, women have been dragged through every fitness trend imaginable, including 12‑week challenges, bikini competitions, CrossFit, Pilates for ‘long and lean’ muscles, and now, HYROX. Each trend promised the answer, and each one ignores women’s physiology.

The truth is, what works is hardly marketable, especially in the age of reactive social media algorithms.

In this episode, I break down exactly how these trends evolved, why they keep failing women, and what actually happens to your metabolism, nervous system, identity, and long‑term health when you follow them blindly.

I'll cover:

• 12‑week challenges and crash dieting

• Bikini modelling and bodybuilding culture

• Powerlifting and CrossFit intensity cycles

• The Pilates “long and lean” myth

• HYROX and hybrid athlete overtraining

And at the end, I'll share with you the training philosophy I arrived at after 20 years in the industry - a physiology‑first, strength‑based approach that actually works for women’s bodies in the short and long-term.

If you’re tired of fitness hype, trends, and false promises, this episode will make everything finally make sense.
